Known for her talented voice, beautiful looks, and cutesy fashion sense, our latest Airplane Wednesday has clenched the hearts of many guys and girls around the globe. We are talking about the it-girl of Japan if not of the world, the J-pop superstar Kana Nishino.
Her story began as pretty much a cliché from some cheesy anime. At a young age, Nishino dreamt of the becoming famous but lacked the courage to take action. Her mother, knowing how talented she was, secretly submitted an audition tape to a competition where Nishino ousted 40,000 other applicants to take home the grand prize.
From then on, the singer and lyricist took off to dominate the limelight. While she was preparing to be a performer, an Australian duo known as Nervo, offered her a song called “I Don’t Wanna Know.” She proceeded to rewrite the song into Japanese and re-titled it into her debut track, “I.” She has since gone on to make many other big hits such as “Motto…” and “Best Friend” as well as the more recent hits “Darling” and “Suki.” In fact, the latter songs are featured in her latest album With Love, which JUST came out and is gaining traction on the Oricon charts.
Along with her voice, Nishino has also been recognized for her beauty and fashion sense, drawing the attention of many popular Japanese magazines including CUTiE, Popteen and ViVi. She is often featured as the cover girl for such magazines, sharing her views on life and of course beauty tips.
