If  you have any interest in the fashion industry, you might have heard about the highly-anticipated Alexander Wang x H&M collaboration that will be launching this Thursday. If you didn’t already know, the youthful Chinese-American fashion designer was recently made Creative Director of the brand Balenciaga in 2012; this early career achievement only attests to the originality and innovation of his distinctive designs.

Known for his inclination towards using black and excellent tailoring, it comes as no surprise that Wang’s H&M collection is largely comprised of dark and contrasting pieces. Among the black, grey, and white pieces lies an underlying theme of athletic style (aka sporty chic), structure, and practicality. If you watch the promotion video here, you can see models leap, perform back flips, snowboard, and accomplish other extreme physical feats while wearing items from the Alexander Wang x H&M collection. Personally, I find this type of pragmatism quite attractive as the collection seems very suitable for the wear and tear of everyday life. As well, I believe Vancouverites, notorious for their yoga-pant-wearing ways, will be well-pleased with the blend of high fashion and active wear, especially when they spy the yoga mats available within this collection!

If you plan on shopping the collection on Thursday, be aware that you must line up for several hours and are only permitted to purchase one item for yourself. Designer-crazed fans will be lining at 6 am until stores open at 8 am– will you be joining them?
