Missed North America’s largest k-pop music festival this past weekend in Los Angeles? Here’s what went down at KCON 2014 (videos at the end):

The first picture had to be this. And yes, you figured it out… it was from the year Exo-M graced the KCON stage. Le sigh.

Maybe you are still wondering, what is KCON? KCON ( is the largest North American convention dedicated to ‘All Things Hallyu’ and includes celebrity panels, autograph sessions, contests, fan workshops, amazing food and two star-studded K-Pop concerts.

Now get this – This year, over 42,000 kpop fans, more than double of last year’s attendance, converged in one place for the 3rd annual KCON.


Main features: public marketplace, two nights of concerts with overseas kpop artists, artist panels and autograph signings, fan workshops, panels on K-pop fandoms, how to be a K-pop fashionista, dancing, K-Drama fans, and much more. Okay, that was a lot to take in, wasn’t it? Basically, what you get are delicious Korean treats, lots of famous Korean music artists, and many, many American kpop fans in one place. 


Did you know:

Over 40% of the attendance are people outside of California – yes! Out of the 42k. Insane.


Who produced KCON? KCON is created by Mnet, a Korean music channel. Mnet’s parent company is CJ E&M, Asia’s leading content company. KCON’s aim is to establish an annual flagship event to give opportunities to overseas and American fans to directly connect with other fans as well as the artists themselves. The first KCON came to Los Angeles in 2012 with around 10,000 attendees

Which kpop artists attended? Korea-B1A4, BTS, CNBLUE, G-Dragon, Girls Generation, IU, Jung Joon Young, SPICA, TEEN TOP and VIXX.


Javabeans of were at the event for all you Korean drama fans.

What other celebs were there? More than 130 special guests participated in the convention including Korean American artist Eric Nam, Korea’s biggest stars from Korea’s top rated shows-Yoo In Na (“You Who Came From the Stars”), and Lee Seung-Gi (“Brilliant Legacy”).
