Taiwan's Pineapple Cake Shop Gets Creative

Some of you may have read a post a few days ago about becoming the next Gundam Pilot Hero for a cheap price of $275. Meanwhile, in a neighbouring part of China, a pineapple cake shop by the name of “iFong” has released the next biggest thing: new and creative packaging for their famous traditional pastry. Their latest packaging box is quite similarly designed to a certain gadget we’re all too familiar with. Each box of the ‘iFong’ contains 6 small pieces of pineapple cakes, priced at NT$250 ($US8.30). The Taiwan bakery has stated that with this new packaging, they hope to attract more customers as a “gift giving” gesture. Purchase two sets of the ‘iFong’ dessert and you’ll get the full gift set wrapping.

Interestingly, they also carry another dessert called the ‘iYou’, bearing remarkable resemblance to another one of Apple’s finest creations. The ‘iYou’ is a type of grapefruit cake originating from Taiwan, and is shaped like a pear. Who thinks this type of marketing will work?
