Final Fantasy X Remake for PS Vita and PS3

September 17, 2011 Peter Tang Comments

With Square Enix’s new trend of remakes, it seems the 2001 success, Final Fantasy X, is next up. With confirmation at Sony’s TGS 2011 press conference, Square Enix made the official statement that the remake would be headed for both the Playstation 3 and the upcoming handheld PS Vita. Hopefully this new remake will incorporate some of the new consoles’ features, such as the PS3′s Sixaxis controllers or the PS Vita’s touchpad. The remake is in celebration of the original game’s tenth anniversary.

If you’ve never had the Playstation 2 experience of the original game, Final Fantasy X tells the tale of Tidus, a young blitzball player who is taken to the world of Spira by an entity known as Sin. Here he is entrusted the task to protect Yuna, a summoner, on her pilgrimage to destroy Sin.

The HD remake is still currently in development, so not much information has been released. However, those in North America won’t be able to celebrate the original game’s 10th birthday in time with the remake, which would have been in December. Hopefully it will be out some time in 2012.

So for those who have played the original, look forward to another chance to explore the world of Spira, as well as experiencing Auron’s awesomeness in HD.

For those who haven’t, I highly recommend you give this game a try as it is considered one of Square Enix’s masterpieces.
