Real Madrid vs. 109 Chinese Kids

August 9, 2011 Peter Tang Comments

Wrapping up their Asian tour, Real Madrid faced one of its greatest opponents: a team consisting of 109 Guangzhou children. The friendly-match was held in honor of the prestigious club’s 109 year history, which presented the opportunity for 109 local, young soccer fans an experience they would always remember.

Despite having already beaten the adult Guangzhou team 7-1, Manager Jose Mourinho spared no mercy against the incredibly large group of youngsters, sending out the club’s best. Players such as Cristiano Ronaldo, Xabi Alonso and Kakà were seen on the pitch and were supported tremendously by the local fans.

Though the Madrid players had to be cautious not to injure their opposition, they also had to be wary of fights among the children (Alonso, seen below, breaking up a fight).

With Real Madrid winning with an end score of 2-1 despite being outmanned nearly 10 to 1. However seeing the energy of the children and the support of the fans was a delightful farewell gesture before heading back home.
