Shanghai International Movie Prototype Arts Exhibition

September 2, 2010 AX3 Comments

Shanghai International Movie Prototype Arts Exhibition lets attendees have a close look at these blockbuster films’ props. Over 1000 props are on display, some of these props are from Pandora, Avatar, Transformers, Lord of the Rings, Iron Man, Harry Potter, Spiderman, and Star Wars trilogy.  These props will be on display until November 9 at the Shangbo Arts Gallery in Pudong. This exhibition is put together by Tang Jill (a Hong Kong director), Jackie Chan, and Richard Taylor (CEO of Weta Workshop).

There is also an underlying message behind this exhibition, its to show what “Made in China” is really about. Most of the props displayed are made in Tianshan Workshop in Dongguan, Guandong, China.

The exhibition started with a charity fundraiser, where all the proceeds went towards Chinese charities. Local and international stars attended the event and were all bidding for the blockbuster movie props. Jackie Chan won the bids for five items that night; one of them was a $500 000RMB bid on a dinosaur model from King Kong.

The exhibition started on August 8th, 2010 and will go until November 9th, 2010. Its $40RMB for students and $80RMB for adults to attend.

Here’s the address to Shangbo Art Gallery: 3539 Dongfang Lu, near Nan Mao Tou Lu (东方路3539号, 近南码头路)
This is obviously a must stop if you’re travelling to Shanghai for the 2010 Expo.
